Zipp Express Can Store Your Medical Supplies

by Zipp Express in St. Louis, MO | May 1, 2021

Zipp Express can store your medical supplies and then safely deliver them. That’s because in 2017, we recognized a local need for secure, short-term storage and rose to the challenge by tripling the size of our available space to 40,000 square feet.

This means our warehouse has more than enough room to store your medical supplies and sensitive medical devices such as ventilators and N95 masks until you need them. And you can’t go wrong if you pair our storage with our top-notch shipping and delivery services.

How We Ship Medical Supplies

Let’s say you’re the owner of a medical device company on the west coast, and you get a phone call from one of St. Louis’s major hospitals. They need a large, expensive piece of equipment, and they need it within three days. Can you guarantee safe, on-time delivery?

Of course we can, you answer confidently and take the order. As you discuss the details with them, you also learn that the hospital only accepts delivery of equipment during certain hours. So you may need temporary storage if it arrives outside of that time frame.

We can handle everything, you tell them. After hanging up, you begin to worry.

Your reputation is on the line. Who can you trust to collect the shipment at the airport? Will they have a vehicle large enough?  Do you  have to coordinate with multiple services in order to get this job done? Or can you find someone who does it all?

The Solution is Clear

You call several delivery partners to see what services they offer and get quotes. Then one of them suggests Zipp Express as a final mile delivery partner. So you give us a call too.

We are happy to help you. We can store your medical supplies and then safely deliver them to their final location.

Zipp Express is locally owned and operated. Our staff and our drivers are local as well. The St. Louis community trusts us because we do what we say we’re going to do.

Because trust is important to us, you can rest assured we’ll provide you with the same excellent service. We are fully insured. This means there will be no loss to you in the unlikely event that something happens to your shipment while in our possession.

Our staff member asks you questions in order to determine how best to serve you. After you explain your needs, we discuss all your options and offer the services we believe will best meet your needs.

When you state that we must deliver your shipment between the hours of 6 and 9am, we offer the use of our warehouse. And since it is an expensive piece of medical equipment, we suggest our caged storage space, a multi-man delivery crew, and White Glove delivery.

We provide you with a tracking number so you can track your equipment in real-time until it is safely in the hands of the hospital. You can hang up and go about your business, secure in the knowledge that your shipment is in the best hands.

Let’s Look at the Itinerary.

10:00 pm Pick-up

Your medical device lands at St. Louis Lambert International Airport. And whether the flight is late or on time, Zipp Express is there and ready for pickup because we operate 24/7/365 days a year.

Reliability and trust are as important to us as they are to you. Because of this, our drivers undergo extensive background checks and we train them to deal with all kinds of freight. All of them are TSA-compliant, which ensures that all time-sensitive deliveries make it to their destination without delay. They will have a copy of your specific instructions for loading and transit. And since they’ve completed all training for the handling of medical devices, nothing will be left to chance.

Our fleet includes straight trucks 24’ to 26’ long, tractor trailers, and flat beds. We never use more truck than called for and we do not cut corners. In this case, we’ve selected a 26’ truck as the best option for transporting your device.

A few minutes after your shipment arrives, our crew loads and secures your equipment and it is on its way to the warehouse.

10:20 pm The Warehouse

The trip is a short one.  Zipp Express’s warehouse is located one mile west of I-270 off I-70, just a few minutes from the airport. We have eight docks that can accommodate a wide variety of transport vehicles, whether they need lifts, levelers, or ramps. This means we can quickly and efficiently cross-dock with a variety of shipping partners.

Once the truck has arrived, the driver will use one of our levelers to carefully move your equipment to the dock. There, a crew will be waiting to move your equipment into the safety of our warehouse.

Our building has 25’ ceilings and 40’ column spans. This means there’s plenty of room for your medical device and little chance of it being damaged by coming into contact with columns or other freight. A 24-hour state-of-the-art system protects our warehouse inside and out, including motion activated cameras and sensors. So your shipment never leaves our sight.

After the crew unloads your device, they tag it for easy tracking and move it to the 2000 square foot caged area we reserve for the most expensive and sensitive shipments. Card-swipe technology allows only authorized personnel to access shipments in this area. As a result, your equipment is safe until time to deliver it.

6:00 am Ready to Deliver

Early the next morning, your equipment is located in the warehouse using its tag and loaded onto another truck for on time delivery.

Zipp Express delivers to all areas within a 150-mile radius of St. Louis. And our drivers are prepared for the inevitable delays that come with living in a large metropolitan area. Whether it’s rush hour traffic or detouring around road construction, they are ready and your shipment arrives at the hospital loading dock on time.

 6:45 am White Glove Delivery

White Glove Delivery is one of the specialty delivery services Zipp Express offers. With standard delivery, we hand the freight or package off to someone else at the loading dock or front door. This is known as curbside or threshold delivery.

Unlike standard delivery, White Glove delivery means our responsibility for your shipment does not end at the loading dock. Instead, we will be responsible for it all the way through early set up. We train crews to your specifications.

As discussed, because of the size of your equipment, we’ve sent a multi-man delivery crew. Our Zipp Express team unloads your shipment and transports it to a specific location within the hospital. They remove the packing material and store it to make recovery and return easier, if needed.

Both you and the hospital are very happy customers.

Excellence is Our Standard

For Zipp Express, this is normal, everyday routine. That’s because we believe first-class customer service, on-time delivery and secure warehouse storage should be the norm, not the exception.
